Role Models Don’t Exist: Original Vintage Shirt, c. 2006

Pulled directly from the original Retard-O-Bot inventory, these are authentic vintage shirts from circa 2006: not reproductions, reprints, or newly manufactured versions of an old design.

The “Role Models Don’t Exist” graphic comes straight from Retard-O-Bot’s mid-2000s electropunk era: hot-pink lettering, distressed purple rays, black cotton, and the kind of unapologetically loud design that looked perfectly at home somewhere between a punk flyer, a MySpace page, and the back of a tour van.

Retard-O-Bot was deep into its most active period at the time these shirts were made. The Tampa band was touring extensively, releasing Friendship Forever and Rabid-era material, playing increasingly packed shows, and helping establish the strange little corner of American underground music that would become known as electropunk.

Nearly twenty years later, a limited quantity of the original shirts remains.

That makes every surviving piece something different from ordinary band merchandise. It is a wearable artifact from the period when the band was actually living the history now attached to it.

The shirts have been stored since the 2000s and are being made available through the official Mangled Media, Inc. store while remaining inventory lasts.

Once a size is gone, there may not be another one.
