Who We Are
About Mangled Media, Inc.
Mangled Media, Inc. is an independent electropunk, alternative, and industrial record label focused on developing boundary-pushing artists, amplifying counter-culture, and building creative identities that actually last. Founded in 1999, Mangled Media has spent more than two decades working with musicians, producers, visual artists, and underground creators operating across electropunk, synthpunk, cyberpunk, industrial, post-punk, alternative metal, and electronic rock.
From the beginning, the mission has been simple: back original artists, protect the weird parts, and help great work hit harder. Mangled Media has always believed underground art demand the mainstream bend to it, rather than the other way around. It should remain sharp, elevated, and released at full potency.
Over the years, Mangled Media has become closely associated with a distinct strain of high-energy, genre-defying independent music and visual culture. The label is recognized for working with artists including Retard-O-Bot, Peter Pepper, Screaming Mechanical Brain (formerly Screaming Monkey Boner), Reverend John Wheeler, and visual artist and music historian RobbieXeff. The wider Mangled Media universe also includes projects and creative ties to Partyoneer Brothers, Throat Cutter, Foxy Shazam, Shed For You, and, coming soon, Peter and the Wolves.
Together, these artists and collaborators reflect what Mangled Media has always stood for: high-potency sound, underground vision, bold aesthetics, and no interest in staying contained.
Artists and Creators
Retard-O-Bot
Retard-O-Bot is an American post-industrial and electropunk band formed in 1999 in Tampa, Florida. Known for their explosive mix of synthesizers, punk screams, rap-style vocals, distorted guitars, and relentless drums, the band helped define the 2000s underground electropunk scene. Fronted by Peter Pepper, alongside TJ Brainz and Benny Normal, Retard-O-Bot became legendary for chaotic live performances, early handmade cardboard robot suits, and fan-fueled robot mosh pits. Recent releases include the Lost Sessions EPs, “Story Arc,” and the breakout 2025 single “Monday Night Electropunk.”
Peter Pepper
Peter Pepper is an American singer, songwriter, musician, producer, visual creator, and screenwriter based in the Tampa Bay area. Best known as the frontman and creative force behind Retard-O-Bot, Pepper has long been recognized as a pioneer in the electropunk and alternative underground. His solo and band work blend punk attitude, electronic production, and alt-rock urgency, while his creative reach extends into music videos, digital shorts, writing, and visual storytelling. His recent work includes the EP We’re from Florida, along with new releases connected to both his solo output and Retard-O-Bot.
Screaming Mechanical Brain
Originally formed as Screaming Monkey Boner, Screaming Mechanical Brain was a Minneapolis-based industrial math-metal, synthpunk, and electropunk band active from 2001 to 2013. Known for fusing heavy metal, punk energy, and circus-like electronic chaos, the band built a reputation for all-out experimentation and high-intensity performances. Standout releases include The Process of Assimilation and There Is No God in Space, both of which remain cult landmarks within heavy alternative electronic music.
Reverend John Wheeler
Reverend John Wheeler is a musician, producer, programmer, songwriter, and remixer best known as the frontman and co-founder of Screaming Mechanical Brain. Based in Minneapolis, Wheeler continues to create hard-hitting original music and remixes across industrial, electronic, and alternative genres. Beyond SMB, his work has extended to MyZero, Blue Felix, and a wide range of collaborations across the heavier side of underground music.
RobbieXeff
RobbieXeff, the artist name of Robbie Williams, is a visual artist, designer, photographer, and music historian whose work sits at the intersection of underground music culture and visual storytelling. Known for bold poster art, album cover design, photography, and scene archiving tied to punk, industrial, and electropunk subcultures, RobbieXeff has contributed iconic visuals for artists including Retard-O-Bot, Foxy Shazam, and others. His work preserves the lore and energy of alternative scenes while helping shape new visual identities for the future.
